According to the young aspirants, they have not been provided jobs despite clearing written test followed by interview for probationary officer and management trainee vacancies in banks. These students have successfully cleared recruitment process conducted by IBPS - Probationary Officer (PO)/Management Trainee-2. IBPS is an autonomous agency authorized by Indian Banks Association.

As per reports, the IBPS had received mandate from 19 public sector banks to conduct written examinations and interviews for probationary officer / management trainee. 45,000 students cleared the exam but nearly 18,000 of them are still waiting for appointment.

“Our plea demanding immediate recruitment has been falling on deaf year. Many of our friends have fallen ill and hospitalized. Several girls are spending their nights under the sky but nobody is ready to listen. We want Rahul Gandhi, whose party is ruling at the Centre, to intervene but none of the Congress leader is ready to talk to us,” Krishna Gopal, a protester said.

The protestors are worried because they would have to appear in examinations again if they were not given allotment before March 31, which is last date of validity.
